Welcome to the New Edinburgh Orchestra web pages! We are a friendly amateur orchestra of around 80 players based in Edinburgh, Scotland and conducted by Tim Paxton. We are a member of Making Music: the National Federation of Music Societies.
We rehearse on Tuesday evenings and perform three concerts a year. Our repertoire includes new music, including several works commissioned by the NEO, along with a variety of more familiar classical pieces.
Listen on youtube to a recording of the orchestra performing Elgar's violin concerto with Feargus Hetherington on 16 March 2013 (recorded by Finlay Hetherington)

We welcome enquiries from potential new members - players usually join for a trial period, and for some principal positions an audition may be required. If you are interested in joining the orchestra, please contact:
Carolyn Dyson (string players)
or Catriona Crosby (wind and brass players)
Rehearsals restart on Tuesday 27 September 2022. Please read the important information on that page in advance of the first rehearsal.
