The rehearsal schedule can be downloaded here.
Concert dress is long black for women, all black for men.
Rehearsals will take place in Inverleith St Serf's Church, 280 Ferry Road, Edinburgh. Please follow this link for information about location, travel and parking at the church.
Dear NEO members,
We hope this finds you well and enjoying the last of the summer sunshine.
The orchestra committee met remotely on Tuesday to discuss the return to rehearsals from Tuesday 28th September. There are a number of changes to note; please do take time to read through them and don't hesitate to get in touch with any queries. We want everyone to feel safe and comfortable about returning!
Rehearsals will resume on Tuesday 28th September in Inverleith St Serf's Church with a later start time of 7.30pm for the first week at least. This is to allow the committee to set up the church from 7pm. We would ask that you don't arrive early so as to minimise mingling!
In accordance with Church of Scotland regulations, please note the following:
- Everyone must maintain 1m distance at all times. This means one player per stand - please remember that everyone will need their own music stand.
- Masks must be worn at all times, with the exception of wind and brass players when playing, and Tim when conducting.
- As we cannot provide refreshments, please feel free to bring a flask etc for the interval. We will NOT be socialising in the hall as before!
In addition, we would be grateful if all players could take a Lateral Flow test on the day of each rehearsal; these can be obtained free of charge from pharmacies, some workplaces, test centres and online at https://www.gov.uk/order-coronavirus-rapid-lateral-flow-tests. Anyone with symptoms should NOT attend.
Term dates:
We will rehearse every Tuesday from 28th September EXCEPT 19th October (half term). We do have a concert booking for Saturday 11th December, but have not yet decided whether this will be a formal event or something more akin to an open rehearsal for family and friends.
Programme for the term:
- Schubert Symphony no.7 (also known as no.8) in B minor - Unfinished
- Fauré Masques et Bergamasques- Suite for Orchestra
- Dvořák Symphony no.8
The schedule for 28th Sept will be:
- 7.30pm - Schubert
- Break
- Dvořák - to finish before 10pm.
Please note that the first three rehearsals up to half term will be an opportunity for us to not only play together again but assess how the new way of operating is working. We would welcome any feedback as the weeks go on.
If you decide not to play this term, please let Carolyn (strings), Catriona (wind and brass) or Ian (percussion) know as soon as possible. You will be most welcome to return at a later date.
Look forward to seeing you on 28th at 7.30pm!
Kindest regards
Joanna
